Study

PhD Program

The Center for Advanced Pain Studies (CAPS) comprises faculty from several departments across UT Dallas. CAPS faculty seek to admit between 5-10 PhD students per year. Students can apply to any program where a CAPS faculty member has an appointment. Our time to degree is 5 years and our graduates pursue careers in academia, government and industry.

Lab Rotations

Rotations are available to students who are undecided with which lab they would like to join. The purpose of research rotations is to gain experience and knowledge in a variety of labs, as well as assist the student in choosing a lab. Students will select three faculty members to rotate through with the help of the Department Chair and faculty input. All rotations will occur in the first semester of study and each rotation will last for one month. In December of the first year of study, the PhD student will consult with the Department Chair and relevant PI’s and will officially join a laboratory. The PhD student will join the selected lab at the beginning of the spring semester.
